Welcome to August, Pennsylvania! It’s been a busy summer, and it is flying by fast, so let’s not waste any time with the small talk. Let’s just dive right into what’s happening.
We have a new advertiser and a new guitar shop that has opened up to serve the Harrisburg area. Doug’s Boutique, located at 1577 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, PA, has put a lot of time and effort into bringing a fully stocked shop to the area, and by the looks of things, he has really packed the store in a short amount of time. You can find new and used gear, and he also offers repairs and accepts consignments. He is currently an authorized dealer for Boss, D’Addario, Dunlop, DR Strings, Ernie Ball, Gator Cases, Ibanez, Levy’s Leathers, MXR, Roland, Schecter Guitar Research, and Xvive. He has also started carrying Oracle Guitars, made locally by Todd Johnston.
As a member of NAMM and the Central Pennsylvania Blues Society, Doug is a bass player by hobby and is no stranger to the local music scene. Whether you’re touring on the big stage or rocking out in your bedroom, Doug has the experience and knowledge to hook you up with the gear you need. Next up, we have a special event at The Abby Bar in Harrisburg, PA—it’s the Susquehanna Summer Jam on Saturday, August 15th. This Moon Peak Production features music by Tales of the Times, New World Otters, Screamin’ Egrets, and Zig & The Psycho-Cyber Cowboys. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the music starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
It’s hard to believe we’re heading into fall, but gear lovers rejoice because it’s guitar show season! The Best Guitar Show will be happening again this year on October 4th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Quality Inn, 300 Tarentum Bridge Road, New Kensington, PA. Admission is $10, and there will be door prizes. This buy, sell, and trade event is always well attended and is a great place to snag a deal or get rid of some unnecessary gear.
