Spring, oh Spring… where are you hiding? We’re getting another teaser weekend, but hang in there — soon the birds will be chirping and we’ll be turning the clocks ahead (Sunday, March 8th), grabbing that glorious extra hour of daylight. Summer festivals, bike nights, deck parties — it’s all coming. Just thinking about it gets the blood flowing.
But who says we have to wait? March is loaded. The local venues are bringing it, and they need you now more than ever. This winter hasn’t been easy — higher prices, cold temps, bigger bills just to keep the lights on and the heat cranking. Small businesses are grinding. So take a ride. Try somewhere new. Shake off that cabin fever. It’ll do you good.
Shermans Creek Inn? Covered. Every. Single. Night. DJ Kevin Nelson, karaoke, trivia, free pool, and NEVER a cover for bands. Ever. This month: The Other Guys, Downfall, Tommy B, Colt Wilber Band, Cody Ross Smith, Crash Acoustic, and more. Check page 2, make a plan, and go see Troy and the crew. Jeep nights and bike nights will be firing up before you know it. If you can’t find something fun there… you might actually be part of the alien invasion.
Racehorse Tavern is stacked. Music, comedy, and killer 717 Entertainment events all month long. On the 5th, 717 presents Ventana with Aeternum, Resistor, and Yosemite In Black. Earl David Reed brings the laughs on the 6th, T.G.I.R on the 7th — and that’s just week one. KISS Army, Blues Vultures, a drag show, Spread Eagle… that’s a lineup. And yes — Ted Poley of Danger Danger is the voice of Spread Eagle. Now you’ve got trivia ammo.
Later this month, Jim and his team host two benefits for Eric Kauffman, lead singer of Dog Pound. Out of Nowhere (March 21st) is generously donating part of their pay toward the main benefit on March 28th. That Saturday is a full-day music event featuring Bad Mojo, Headshot, Out Of Nowhere, Silver Mountain, Six Whiskey Revival, Fred & Ethel, Phipps & Friends, plus two full sets of Dog Pound music performed by former members. Guest bartenders will be mixing it up throughout the week as well. It’s about community — and this is what that looks like.
On a tougher note, HMAC is facing some serious challenges. Let’s hope an agreement can be reached — losing a landmark like that would hit hard. With restaurants and breweries closing left and right, the message is simple: support the places you love, or risk watching them disappear.
That’s it for this month. Got something going on? Want people to know about it? Call or text me at 717-636-4203 or email joshnoll@pamusician.net. Advertising is easy, painless, and honestly… kind of fun. See you out there!
