Out and About – June 2026

Well I really thought the saying was April Showers bring May flowers, but I’m typing this during the rainy Memorial Day Weekend! What a bummer after those beautiful Summer weekdays. Oh well.. Gotta have the rain for the grass to grow, I’m sure there will be way more sunny days ahead! At least it’s helping me get my article done ahead of schedule. HA!

This month kicks off with a Small but mighty crowd for The Blue Sky Tavern open mic hosted by Matt Jameson Live. I missed Julia Denne but did make it for the end of John and his Irish drinking songs, Zig from the Zig and the Psycho-Cyber Cowboys did his first solo set that was amazing! Corey from the band Tales of the Times, played solo, and even shared an original song with us, the open mic OG, Rob Davis, brought his electric out for a few songs, Matt played a few new songs he’s been working on! And then jammed a bit at the end with the OG himself! A work a lot from home by myself, so I really do love getting out in the evenings just to see and interact with people. My dogs are great, but I do still need human interaction once in a while.

While I was out delivering magazines, I made a stop into Fratelli’s Towne Tavern for the end of Derek Avalon’s show. It’s awesome to see him getting so many local shows now. He played the whole 3 hours by himself this time and he was nailing it! It’s so cool watching the open mic”ers” go from 3 songs to 3 hours of songs. It takes a lot of practice, determination, and guts! It’s truly magical to watch the transformation. After Derek’s show, I swung over to Flinchy’s for the musical stylings of the one and only Shine Delphi! Always music to my ears when I cross paths with him. It was nice to hang out with Dave and Jen Beardsley. Dave is one half of Megan and Dave, so it’s always fun hanging with my musician friends when they don’t need to be the one on stage.

Saturday Night was the 3rd Annual Vertical 4 Life Music Festival! I had a busy day, but wanted to at least stop in, and support this great event, and my friend Brad. It’s awesome to see what Brad’s vision 3 years ago has turned into. He’s doing a lot to support Veterans anyway he can. I was able to catch Backwood Ruckus for the first time. The Dillsburg Legion has an amazing stage for bands and these guys were rockin it! Chris Rider Photography was there covering the event pretty much all day.. so I’m sure you’ll see a lot more from him. I finished the night heading down at O’Rorkes in Gettysburg for Matt Jameson Live. Happy Anniversary to Holly and Matt!! 5 years already!! Time flies when you’re having fun. We had a full table of shenanigans and fun to help them celebrate!

In the Harrisburg area, everyone knows the biggest party happens at the Sierra Madre in Camp Hill! I’m glad I made it out for a bit for Derek Henry and Hank The Buffalo!! The party was just getting started! They had a full day and schedule with music from 11am until 2am. Derek was jamming with John Staz. The day started a little light, but I’m still surprised how many people came out for lunch and to enjoy the festivities. When Hank the Buffalo started the crowd also started. As a sober person, I took that as my cue to head home and get back to work. I’m sure it was a wild and wonderful day and night at Sierra Madre Saloon!!!

After I few hours of work I then headed over to Copper Pub for Open Mic hosted by Megan and Dave. It was an amazing night out in the deck, so much talent and so much fun! It’s hard to believe it’s only Tuesday!!! Julia Denne and her sister Kelsie will be rocking their first duo show at The Doghouse on June 7th from 2-4pm. Everyone should come out and support these young girls for Sunday Funday!!

Wednesday it was back to the fun and festivities at The Blue Sky Tavern open mic, hosted by Matt Jameson Live! When I got there Matt was jammin’ with Stevie J! Then Merve music 717 rocked our faces off, then it was time for The Mighty Klucks, there are only two of them but they are mighty!! Then it was Zig and the Psycho-Cyber Cowboys! Dang 2 female bass players in a row, that make you say, WOW! Then new to me, Jack and Boog, stepped up and the collabs kicked in.. Russell Yohe joined them on drums, and new to the area, and the jams, Evan stepped up on bass. Then Brandon got up there.. he has come a long way since that time when he borrowed Matt’s guitar to play a song just a short while ago! Next up, Aaron Zimmerman got pulled up to play a song with Boog, and then finished off the night playing some beautiful Skid Row with Matt! What a truly super fun night!! Oh and Mike Miller was visiting for an added bonus!! Remember this craziness happens every Wednesday at Blue Sky Tavern!!!

FriYAY!!! Wowzers! That was ffffuunnn!! It all started at River House Scratch Kitchen + Bar for Hank The Buffalo. Had good times shenanigannin with my friends!! Then off to HORN PUB for Matt Jameson Live! 2nd Fridays are always a blast at the Horn Pub!! Lots of guest musicians, adding in to the musical magic.

Saturday Night was full of delight!! It started off at The Wharf for Megan and Dave. There was a whole table full of friends out supporting them and we danced, laughed, and enjoyed the night. Then Holly, Matt, and I zoomed up to Shermans Creek Inn for InnaVibe! It was my first time seeing these guys and they sounded great!! It was cool to see so many people supporting a reggae band in Perry County!! Shermans Creek Inn supports music in so many ways! Now that the tent is open there is acoustic outside, full bands inside, and then of course their Sunday Funday brunches with more acoustic music. They do special events like bike nights, naughty bingo, community fundraisers, they are always up to something at the Creek! Check out their crazy full schedule in this issue, and get up there and support local music!

Wednesday night the weather outside was frightful, but the music inside The Blue Sky Tavern was delightful!! Matt Jameson Live hosted another super fun open mic. With OGs and newbies! What an amazing night of talent! The last jam song of the night was “All Along the Watchtower”… thanks Matt! Come out to Blue Sky EVERY Wednesday!!! for open mic shenanigans!

Thursday night I headed to The Sturges Speakeasy with Stephen Robert entertaining us all. Got to chill with my homegirl Megan and have delicious food, and the perfect specialty “Rachel Mocktail”.. made by the amazing other Rachel! Thursdays are the Sturges’s special night for live music. They always have someone worth stopping in for. Plus it’s an early show, 7-10pm, home in plenty of time for a good night’s rest!

Friday night Cindy and I had great plans to go to see the Legwarmers at XL Live, which is an 80s Tribute, but sometimes things don’t always go as planned, but we still made the most out of our night and our 80s outfits!!! Who accepts us for who we are? Weird and all?!? Our Buffalo Boys of course!! Off to Fratelli’s Towne Tavern to jam out with Hank The Buffalo and our peeps. That was an early show and our lipstick was holding up nice.. so why not finish the night at Mad Moose Tavern for Shine Delphi! We must not have been too weird to hang with, because our friends followed us over there to keep the party alive! Who knows?!? Maybe Cindy and I will have to have more theme nights! Hahaha! Ya never know what we will do next!

On a Saturday I finally made it to my first Carlisle Car Show! Wowzers! That’s a lot of cars!! Plus, they had live music! Dave Gates Music and Matt Jameson Live both played in the Brewmixer tent, and both were accompanied by an awesome trombone player named Andy from Annapolis! It was cool to hear how he filled in the songs. I also got to hear Soup Kitchen, they were rockin the Main Stage in the Amphitheatre. Afterwards Matt played a Private Party and I just relaxed and got to listen to music all day!! Twas a lovely day indeed!

The following Friday I bounced around.. I started the night Dukes Bar and Grille for Katz 22! I love these guys! Always so much fun!! Then off to Fratelli’s Towne Tavern for the tail end of Matt Jameson Live! Then finally, out to Merve’s debut show at Flinchy’s! So blessed to have so much music so close to home! Fun, Friends, and Music!! Life is good!!!

Saturday started early with Megan and Dave rocking the Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey! It was dry, warm, and oh so much fun! Afterwards a bunch of us headed over to the new Cahoots Taproom and Arcade for Shine Delphi. Cahoots is in the old Tattered Flag building. It’s awesome to see it turn into something new! And something that supports live music!

Sunday Funday on a Holiday Weekend!! First stop was at Flinchy’s for Derek Avalon. The place was squeeze through only and Derek had everyone singing and dancing!! Then a quick stop over to Artsfest where I heard a few songs by the Jaded Lips from Altoona area. Those guys were good! So was the delicious food I was eating! Then, finished the night with Hank The Buffalo at Dukes Bar and Grille! Another place packed in tight with so many people joining the herd! What an awesome fun-filled day!!

June is going to be a crazy busy month with travel, family, and regular craziness!! One of those celebrations is my 27th Wedding Anniversary! I know.. she’s married.. WHAT?!? Haha!! But I have one heck of a husband that loves and supports me in so many ways! I am truly grateful! I’m also helping organize a FREE Outdoor Movie night in Duncannon on June 19th!! The movie is going to be the classic “Airbud” and there will be Free Kids’ Activities, Food, and so much more!! Come on out and kick off Summer with us!! Then, to finish the month, one of the biggest celebrations, Cindy turns 50!! After she jumps out of a plane, we will all be celebrating at Copper Pub on her birthday, June 30th, at Open Mic night. Bring your instruments and come play us some music!

I hope to see you all Out and About supporting music and having as much fun as I do! Music is the bond, and I am so truly grateful for all of my friends I’ve made along the way! Remember you can always find us online at pamusician.net and just get out there and Support Local Music!!
