After The Fallen has risen from the ashes—and they didn’t come back quietly. Formed in 2022 by lead singer Jose Cabrera, the undeniable backbone of the band, this is more than just another metal project clawing for attention. This is a statement. A warning. A controlled explosion waiting to happen every time they hit the stage.
The former bass player turned frontman has paid his dues in the trenches of the local scene, slinging bass and guitar in heavy-hitting bands like Ninetail, ODIUM, Dreams Of Eden, Above The Treachery, Horse Grenade, and more. That experience bleeds into every note. One song in, and his talent as a frontman is unmistakable—raw, commanding, and just unhinged enough to keep you locked in. When these guys turn up the volume, you don’t just listen—you brace yourself. Heavy metal, punk, pure aggression—the light-your-couch-on-fire type of music that flips a switch and snaps you straight into metal mode.
Backing Jose is a generational collision of sound and fury. Enter the young guns, “the Brothers”—Ricky LeBlanc, a furious guitar-slaying assassin whose riffs cut like a blade, and drummer Sebastian Mumper, better known as Stubz. Rarely seen without a sweater, Stubz delivers pounding, distinct double-kick beats that don’t just keep time—they drive the chaos. These two have been banging pots and pans together since birth, and it shows in a way you can’t fake. There’s a chemistry there that only comes from years of noise, instinct, and shared energy.
On stage, they move like a single unit—tight, aggressive, and always on. Their younger edge and relentless energy collide perfectly with the signature sound Jose has built, creating a mostly all-original set that hits hard and doesn’t let up. This isn’t background music—this is the kind of set that leaves your neck sore, your ears ringing, and your adrenaline spiking long after the last note fades.
Holding down the low end is the high-flying wrestling maniac known only as “Porter.” Equal parts mystery and mayhem, Porter brings a whole different kind of presence to the band. A former wrestling enigma, he’s more at home smashing faces and dropping elbows than standing still—and that same intensity carries straight into his bass playing. Refusing to remove the mask, his identity stays hidden, but his impact is anything but. His playing is relentless, punishing, and impossible to ignore.
As a former bandmate of Jose, there’s history there—an unspoken understanding that fuels their dynamic. Together, they lock in and go head-to-head with the Brothers in what feels like a full-blown metal showdown every time they perform. It’s not just a band—it’s controlled chaos, a clash of styles and personalities that somehow hits with precision.
Rounding out the lineup is second guitar player Eric Siple—the “stage referee,” so to speak. The one holding it all together when things threaten to spiral off the rails. His playing blends the opposing forces into one cohesive, crushing sound. There’s a balance he brings that sharpens the band rather than softening it. His style fits seamlessly, filling out the sonic landscape and adding depth without taking away from the raw edge that defines After The Fallen. And despite being a newer addition, you wouldn’t know it from the performance—they already move like a band that’s been locked in for years.
The band’s debut album Surgo Lapsurom, written, sung, and played by Jose, stands as a personal and sonic milestone—a full-throttle masterpiece of metal. It’s a heavy, unapologetic blend of hardcore thrash, punk attitude, and chaotic metal energy. The riffs are crushing, the lyrics cut deep with a dark, twisted edge, and the overall sound refuses to fit neatly into any one box. It’s aggressive, it’s unpredictable, and it’s exactly what it needs to be.
But what really sets After The Fallen apart is how that sound evolves on stage. The current live set carries a different weight—still rooted in the same material, but reshaped by the chemistry and personality of the full lineup. Songs breathe differently. They hit harder. They move faster, louder, and with a sense of urgency that only comes from a band finding its stride in real time. This isn’t just a recreation of the album—it’s a transformation.
Looking ahead, the band isn’t slowing down. A new three-song EP is set to drop in late spring, giving fans a taste of what this new era sounds like. After that, a full-length album is already in the works—this time with a shift in creative control. Jose plans to hand the reins over to the newer members, opening the door for a fresh wave of ideas and influences. It’s a bold move, but one that could push the band into even heavier, more unpredictable territory.
With years of combined material and experience between them, there’s no shortage of ideas waiting to be unleashed. The goal is clear: get back into the studio soon and keep the momentum building. If what they’ve shown so far is any indication, we can’t wait to see what the bring us next.
Even with studio time on the horizon, they’re not staying off the stage for long. One of the most important upcoming shows is a special benefit event happening on June 28th at Capital City Music Hall. The show will support 15-year-old AJ Clark, who is battling Ewing Sarcoma, with all proceeds going directly to AJ and his family to help with medical expenses.
Featuring performances by After The Fallen, Coal, Burn The Martyr, The Eastern Tribute Collective, and Fight The Fold, this all-ages event is more than just a concert—it’s a community coming together. With raffles throughout the day and a $10 donation at the door, it’s a chance to experience powerful live music while supporting a cause that truly matters.
At the end of the day, After The Fallen isn’t just another name in the scene—they’re building something loud, raw, and real. Something that hits you in the chest and sticks with you.
